Guayaquil, Ecuador.

Back towards the end of January I had planned a trip with my mom to go visit my sick cousin who had cancer. We were so excited for this trip, planning all the things we were going to do together with her and her husband and babies. Unfortunately three days before my trip my cousin of only 26 years of age passed away. It took me by complete shock as she had been stable. I know this post is very personal and you all typically read my post for the fashion but I just wanted to explain why I choose to still shoot while I was in Ecuador and why I am actually smiling in all my pictures. My cousin was an amazing woman! She was so full of life and she was so kind to everyone all the time. She lived her life full of joy and she touched so many people. It was such a blessing to see all her friends and family supporting one another in this time of grief.

One the last day of our trip we decided to spend it with the entire family, because that's what she had planned for all of us to do. We all went to the park with her two children and all the other cousins, aunts and uncles. It was such a beautiful moment to be together and remember her. It is always sad to lose someone but there is such great joy in enjoying the memories and realizing the impact they made in your life and those around you. RIP Edna Milena.

xoxo,
V
